Bloody NUFC, that is all I can think at the moment. I love the club, I’ve listened and watched them play for as long as I can remember, it is my continuous connection to the one place I still call home from 3000 miles away, it is the one topic I always end up on with my Dad whenever we call each other, it drives my Mam mad. However right now I just can’t get the least bit interested in the games, I’ve not watched more than 15 minutes of a game since September and I’ve not missed it, that is how bad 2014 was. I actually made a concious effort not to watch because every Saturday morning I would wake up, watch the dross that Pardew called football and then be bloody miserable all weekend and take it out on those closest.
The events of the last couple of weeks, exiting the Cups (again), settling on Carver (noone saw that coming of course) followed by Ashley flagrantly gaming the system with his spectacular end of transfer window clearout has done nothing to fix my mood about the club. He is the ultimate business man and has learned a valuable lesson at Newcastle which he has demonstrate in his new venture at Rangers, “why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free”, he is making a fortune from a club without actually buying them and taking on the responsibility that goes with that, NUFC sign noone, make 10m, he loans it to Rangers (3m of which he gets back for the previous loan) then we send them 5 players they don’t want and make them pay their wages out of that loan. It is utter genius and I can’t decide whether to applaud him for the audacity or just be disgusted, either way it is the perfect microcosm of following NUFC for the last couple of years, very disheartening.
Anyway, this weekend I am going to watch the game, I’m going to do one of my favourite things, meet the lads (@IWantCurlyHair2, @m1spike & @OutOfTOONer) for beers Saturday night and then wake up early to watch the game eating one of Curly’s special breakfasts. If that doesn’t get me back on board then nothing will.
Howay the lads
